Solidarity Projects

What is a Solidarity Project?

A Solidarity project is a solidarity activity that is established, developed, and implemented by at least 5 young people during a period of 2 to 12 months within the country.

Young people have the unique opportunity to express solidarity, take initiatives and bring about positive change in their local communities.

The project must have a specific subject, which the members of the group wish to explore together, have a clear European added value, and promote the following priorities of the Programme:

  • Inclusion & Diversity
  • Digital Transformation
  • Participation in Democratic Life
  • Protection of the Environment
  • Sustainable Development and Climate Action
  • Prevention, Promotion and Support in the Health Sector

How can an organisation implement a Solidarity Project?

This action allows organisations in Cyprus to help groups of forward-thinking young people apply for funding for Solidarity Projects and support this group of young people through their own project.

Therefore, a group of young people can choose to work with an experienced organisation (non-governmental, public, or private) and apply for funding on behalf of the youth group.

How long can a project last?

A project can last from two (2) to twelve (12) months.

What funding can we receive for the implementation of the project?

The funding for a youth group is 595 euros (per month) from two (2) to twelve (12) months. It covers the support of the Solidarity Project and various costs associated with the management and implementation of the project.

Young people implementing a Solidarity Project can receive support from a mentor and the funding is 1644 euros for a maximum of 12 days (137 euros per day). If necessary, costs may also be designated for the participation of young people with fewer opportunities in the project team or for supporting the participation of people with fewer opportunities, who are the target group of the project.

This funding can help team members address issues in their communities, target a specific group, or develop local opportunities, while providing them with a valuable non-formal learning experience.

What should we do before applying?
How do we apply?

Submitting applications for Solidarity Projects is a simple process and is done through online forms. The application will be evaluated by the Foundation for the Management of European Lifelong Learning Programmes.

The organisation can submit the application on behalf of the youth group.

In the application form, you will be asked questions such as why you want to run this project, how it will benefit the community, and what activities you plan to perform during the preparation and implementation of the idea.

When is the final date for application submission?
